Rose Terry Cooke was born in West Hartford, Conn., graduated from the Hartford Female Seminary in 1843, and married Rollin H. Cooke in 1873. She published her poems, 1860-1886, and wrote humorous short magazine stories mainly describing New England life. From the description of Letters and poem, 1864-1890.
